Dual camera recording on iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the 2027 iPhones
Apple added multi-camera capture for apps in iOS 13, starting with iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, so a newer iPhone such as the iPhone 18 Pro is well past the starting line. DualCapture needs iOS 18 or later. We have not published a test on the iPhone 18 models yet, so check the App Store listing for the current list.

What is new in the iPhone 18 lineup
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at a September 2026 event, with an A20 Pro chip. Preorders began September 12 and the phones were released September 18, per Mashable. MacRumors reports the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air are expected in spring 2027.
What Apple says about multi-camera capture
Apple introduced simultaneous capture from multiple cameras in iOS 13 on iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, and its developer documentation lists the device sets that support it. Apps check support at runtime, so a camera app decides whether to offer dual recording on each phone.
Before you buy a new iPhone for this
- Check that the app supports your iPhone on its App Store listing.
- Dual recording uses more storage, so consider a larger model if you film a lot.
- Run a one-minute test and check the front and back files before an important shoot.
