DualTake: portrait and landscape from one take

DualTake is an iPhone app that records one take and saves two videos, a vertical 9:16 and a horizontal 16:9, to your Photos library. It records with one camera, so you stop filming the same thing twice. It is free to download.

How it works

DualTake records with one camera. The horizontal file is cut from the same frame as the vertical one, and it follows your face so you stay in the shot. Pan the horizontal frame yourself if you want a different crop.

It is made for product reviews, podcasts, tutorials, music and vlogs that need a vertical cut for short-form feeds and a horizontal cut for long-form channels.

What is in it

  • A teleprompter that scrolls next to the lens, set in words per minute, and never appears in your video
  • Front and back camera, and you can flip in the middle of a take
  • Up to 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps, HDR and editing-friendly codecs, export as MOV or MP4
  • Tap to focus, exposure control, zoom, grid, level, torch, a 3, 5 or 10 second countdown, pause and resume, and a photo mode

Free and Premium

Free gives you both files from takes up to 1 minute at 1080p. Premium removes the time limit and the watermark, and adds 4K, pro codecs, HDR, full zoom and exposure controls. Pay weekly, monthly, yearly or once for lifetime. The prices are on the App Store listing.
